pain medication

  1. Recently there has been an increase of the use, abuse and addiction to prescription pain pills. According to the last National Household Survey the addiction to pain pills or pain medications such as Norco or Vicodin has risen from 200,000 in 1985 to well over 2 million today. Many people use pain pills or pain medication for legitimate use, but there are many individuals who wind up addicted to pain pills, narcotic medications and other pain medications. Some of the most common of these addictions or dependencies are:

    Vicodin addiction
    Hydrocodone addiction
    Norco addiction
    OxyContin addiction
    Lorecett addiction
    Nubain addiction
    Ultram addiction
    Tramadol addiction
    Morphine addiction

With the ease of ordering pain pills or pain medications over the internet, the prevalence of pain pill or pain medication has sharply risen. Studies have shown that some geographic clusters of certain pain pill or pain medications have also taken place.

Recently in Texas there has been a large rise in the addiction to the pain medication Norco which is a commonly prescribed pain pill medication. Many treatment centers and rapid detox programs in the Texas area have shown a sharp rise in patients that are addicted to Norco. The addiction to Norco can be very serious and detoxification from Norco can be difficult. Norco is composed of Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. With the use of rapid detox or anesthesia assisted rapid opiate detoxification the withdrawal from Norco or other pain pills or pain medications can be greatly diminished. At Texas Opiate Detoxification Specialists approximately 40% of the patients that go through rapid detox are suffering from Norco addiction.

In the southeast in the past 5 years there was a sharp increase in addiction to the pain medication OxyContin. OxyContin withdrawal can be extremely difficult to tolerate without a proper detoxification protocol. One of these protocols which has been the most successful is rapid detox or also referred to as anesthesia assisted rapid opiate detoxification (AAROD).
